I've had a few lessons on eating with chopsticks; just can't get it. I recently went to a Chinese place where I had to beg for a fork. Has anyone mastered the art of using chopsticks?

I never used chopsticks. I don't even know what they look like.
I Saw them once a few years ago but they are not actualy made of wood as somebody would imagine. They were plastic at least the once i seen anyway.
But to answer the original question i don't know how to use them.
But i could make interesting music out of them by nocking them together.
Yep, I don't have a problem using them, and often do, but if I'm eating rice or noodles at home, I'll just use a fork. It's still easier. Just keep practicing with your chopsticks til you don't have to think about it any more. It's only hard at first because it's a different technique.
You use chopsticks a bit like tongs, but they're not joined in the middle like tongs. I once had to eat smarties off a saucer as part of a game, using chopsticks but kept dropping or losing the smarties in the process. I'd reccomend using or asking for a knife and fork to have a cat in hell's chance of eating your food in less than 24 hours! Lollol.
Time to begin practicing with the chopsticks at home, so I don't make an embarassing scene when dining with my Asian friends. lol.
I also have never seen chop sticks.
I think I'd starve to death if I had to rely on using chop sticks. LOL
I like eating at Chinese restaurants, but usually you have to ask for chop sticks if you want to use them. I guess the managers of most of these places realize most Americans would rather use silverware.
But yeah, I think if I wanted to learn to use them, I would practice at home.
I'm Chinese and can't use choptsticks . I even tryed the special kind (the oneds that are hooked together) but can never get it! I think I'm too Americanized or something.
So are chopsticks just of rise or are they used also for other food like potatoes, meet etc?
I guess they can be used for anything, but can't be too sure. Any other Asians can't use chopsticks besides me??
Well, it took me a while to learn hwo to use chopsitcks, but it works Well, it takes quite a bit of coordination, though. It's kind of like holding a pencil, but not really. But, I've kind of mastered it and am now learning how to cut food, yes cut food, with them.
I've seen chopsticks, but will negveer in my life find a reason to start using them. I'll just stick to the silverware. Yes, this topic's a year old or less, but I like bringing up old subjects sometimes. lol
lol. I'm learning how to use them. It's somewhat challanging at first.
I can't use them, and I don't care(well I do but for now I'll just stick to using forks)
